Problems with the latest version of Flash Player and Firefox, a solution from Gaz
The latest update of Flash Player from Adobe is causing endless problems for RP2 users (and lots of other people around the world). It freezes, crashes and, in my case, when I installed it, stops Firefox from working at all!
There are two solutions, the first, if you are a back office user and running Windows 7, is to use Google's Chrome browser for RP2. We have anumber of customers using it now and it is fast and reliable. However, this is no good for Windows XP users or till points that automatically print.
The alternative is to install an old version of flash player. To do this, follow these steps:
- Close down all instances of Firefox, make sure there are no Firefox windows open at all
- Use another browser (NOT FIREFOX, use Internet Explorer or Google Chrome) to go to http://www.refpoint.co.uk/rmflash.exe and download and run this program. It will remove the newer version of Flash Player
- Use another browser to go to http://www.refpoint.co.uk/flash10.exe and download and run this program. It will install Flash Player 10.3
Now start Firefox and load RP2, you should find everything works correctly.
